Brighton East – Transforming a Pergola with Velux Skylights

Velux skylights aren’t just for indoors – they can completely transform an outdoor space too.

The brief for this project was simple but ambitious: cover an open pergola roof without blocking the natural light, and deliver a high-end, elegant finish.

Roofrite’s Sales Director, with his eye for design, suggested Velux skylights instead of the standard solid polycarbonate. The results speak for themselves.

First, the pergola had to be carefully framed and roofed to provide a supporting frame for the skylights. Then, four Velux skylights were expertly positioned between the existing rafters. The finished pergola now provides a stunning visual backdrop to the pool, with soft dappled shade that keeps the space comfortable in summer and fully functional year-round.

This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design and expert installation can elevate an outdoor space, turning a simple pergola into a stylish, light-filled retreat.
